Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind

Hi People 🙂

This has been dormant in my mind for a while and hence the movie with name as the title of this post triggered it up. For those who have seen the movie, let me say, my post is not exactly in line with the movie. I am just having the plot around which the movie revolves as the crux of my post. Analogies and comparisons vary here.

So, How many of us have wished to forget certain things/persons that/who have happened in our life? Or even it might be things that you would have done in the past, which gives you a frown for the rest of your lives when you think about it. Mostly each of us would have such instances ranging from the silly ones to extremely grave ones. Also, the one question that will linger around in your head will be-“How better it would have been if I had not done that/How better it would have been if that had not happened? At the most extreme cases, even we might be happy if we are able obliterate the incident.

Human memory is the most fascinating one. It will make you the happiest by remembering certain stuff and it will also make you go crazy by remembering certain stuff which you don’t want to. We might have fantasies of erasing just that part of our lives and continue our lives as if nothing happened. I am not sure if these fantasies have been made practically possible as shown in the movie (It might have happened with the racing technology). My point here is the fact that you cannot fight natural stuff because certain things are meant to be the way they are-even if that gives you endless regret and sorrow.

I can say this for sure because I have had experiences and I have unspeakable mistakes to regret, as many among us do. We all have tried to get on with life as if nothing happened. However, the truth turns out to be that we get over the issue but not over the fact that we did it. We can think of it without the slightest of the effect it once had on us in all aspects except the aspect of regret. That “Damn!! Why couldn’t I have refrained from doing that stuff?” still exists. I think, It is because we hold a high esteem of ourselves always and now whenever we try to maintain it, our conscience will poke us and say-“Hey you! You are not that good a person. Do you remember what you did during that incident?” and all of a sudden there is nothing that we would not give in our life to make that one mistake right.

Actually, when you have gotten over a mistake or something bad, you should be able to laugh at your mistake without a tinge of any bad feeling. This is the hard truth. The reason-“Forgiving is an art, It might be difficult to master it but if you try, you can. Sadly, forgetting is beyond our scope”. So, I think the better way to do it is to forgive yourself/others when things get out of hand. That’s all we have in our hands. Maybe, if we deserve, we might get a chance to reach a stage  as good as totally obliterating the unwanted memories in our mind. As you ponder on it, I might as well ask you to be careful and not cause any regrettable incidents in your loved ones’ lives because that way, it becomes harder. You have enough trouble trying to forgive yourself and forget your mistake than having to try to make another mind to forgive and forget a mistake of yours.

All these are my reflections on seeing the movie “Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind” and doing some serious pondering over human memory. So, I might be as wrong as I might be right about the whole thing.

 Until later 🙂

“Singara” Chennai!!

1 week @ Chennai, I couldn’t help coming up with this:

Chennai, being the capital of our state, deserves to be in a much better state than it is now. Almost all the places, are full of scattered wastes and small pools of water. Obviously, the flies and mosquitoes follow. The “??? ???? ??? ?????! ??? ???? ???????? ????????????!” boards are silently crying out for attention. With so much population in the city, doesn’t the city deserve a better maintainance? Leave aside the government. It has never done much. Why can’t the people living here, refrain from polluting the environment in all possible ways?? I doubt if the residents have got used to living in such detestable environments. When I complained about this to a friend, I got this response-” ?????? America  ? ??????? ???? ?????? ?????”. I am asking-“Why not? Is there any rule that only that America should have good living conditions?” How much ever we talk about this, it just remains a rant. If the country will continue to be in such conditions with respect to environment, there’s no use in just developing the economy and other aspects of the country.

P.S: The C.M. is very clever to plan the “much-needed” ??? ???????? ?????? at Coimbatore, which is pretty good as of now. Here comes June 23rd to spoil that. With so many people crowding and littering the city, I am sure that Coimbatore is going to lose its grace.

Women from home to house????

With all the due hype, women’s bill has been passed in the Rajya sabha! Having to be born in the female part of the society, my say on this is “This is yet another bullshit from the politicians to gather up some attention and the impression that they have done something for the women”.What I feel is, it is appropriate for the politicians to leave all these faking and do something really beneficiary for the country. My reason for this stand is the fact that if the society fully accepts that women are as much as capable as men without any sort of restraints, then it is equal to 50% reservation in any field.

The other face of the argument is as some claim “Have all women achievers so far, come up using such reservations?”, I accept that the answer is “No”.However, it cannot be denied that the number is comparatively less than the other half. The reason for this largely lies in the restrictions on women by the society (or the abuse and mockery that women have to face),even in this modern era.

So,what I say is “Leave the women be themselves. There is no need for any special reservation as if they are weaklings needing extra care and also there is no need for the abuse and mockery, when they try to come up, as if they know nothing”. Men and Women have been created as the two halves of mankind with all correct reasons and as the logic goes(I mean action-reaction, good-bad and all that stuff..). So treat others as you would want to be treated and that will be the day when something meaningful has been inculcated into us.

Quota needed?

I often wonder, why we need to have reservations for admissions in colleges. This has been a topic in many of the group discussions and debates and still there’s nothing that has happened. If a student has the talent,he will study well. Why reservations? These reservations were made during Ambedkar’s times for good causes. Now all those causes having died, the election benefactor reservation alone remains behind. It’s such a pity that many really talented people don’t get what they are entitled to,because of this.I got this college and course with a not-much cut-off of 276.something because of my quota reservation. My friend who was 277.something couldn’t even come near my college because he was categorized as forward class. At that time,I was not actually aware of this affecting so many people.Even if I had known, there wouldn’t have been much that I could have done. This reservation stuff and management seats in colleges and making education a business is disgusting.I feel there is no need for a student to buy his/her admission into college if he/she is really very interested in studying and hence no need for these reservations. Also,I think those who study just for the sake of completing UG,for the name of it don’t deserve the degree in the first place. Also it leads to the rapidly increasing number of engineering colleges in the state. When do we see a change? The question is hanging in mid-air.

Agnostic or Atheist-It doesn’t matter!

After knowing many of my fellows’ opinion on religion and god,I am tempted to discuss my thoughts. This might turn out to be confusing, because I am confused about the existence of God as in real existence terms.Does this make me an Agnostic? Whatever..I don’t think that God is somewhere out there holding all the strings of life and happenings together.Does this make me an Atheist? O.K. Now to the point,as for me,life is a string of incidents based more on Newton’s III law.Our actions determine what we are going to face.Everyone would have had experiences to prove this fact. Still, they talk of god deciding punishments for each living cell on earth.Oh,Come on people,We have studied science which proves the life’s existence and purposes. This leads to the questions that pin point certain incidents that are too good to be mere coincidence. Yup,I accept, but what’s life without some miracles? So,I don’t know if God is there on not,but I don’t appreciate idol worship,many-god theory, religious chaos in name of God  and so on.What I am saying is,have your own opinions, whatever they are. However,do not expect others to have or support the same. This goes mainly to the elder generation who expect their children to believe what they believe, though they do not have solid reasons for their belief. It’s a pity that they believe what they have been taught to believe. As for me,God may even exist as that science that explains all these issues.I don’t mind. But,I mind when this issue is being used to force others to do something or to divide the country or to enhance terrorism…………. The list goes on.People, let these change at least in our lives.
