I think, therefore I write

Tag: Writing (Page 2 of 3)

I must say it was a pretty good hibernation period for me. The past few months. I was away from the blogging world and twitter (Pretty much the only 2 social networks I am on). But I was neither lazy nor busy. I was doing certain things and was not doing certain other things. Productivity as usual took a hit 😛  I want to thank the people who really stuck it out with me and supported me through comments. It meant a lot!

I was out there doing some projects in freelance writing and trying to figure out how to shape it out. That’s when life made me realize I need to mix and match. If you know enough about me, you would probably know my nature. I need a lot of things to keep me interested. Out of the big list that I come across, only few stay and those few really keep me hooked. I read that this nature is typical of a Libra but how much truth to attribute to that is up to personal opinions. So I am taking it in the stride.

Started watching How I Met Your Mother and I cannot justify why I didn’t start before. For more than 6 months, I had the episodes in my hard drive but never got past the first one. I don’t know why. Suddenly out of nowhere, I just started watching and kept going on. If F.R.I.E.N.D.S taught me about life and friendship in a way that I can relate to very much, HIMYM is teaching me life in a very real yet philosophical way which also has a romantic tinge because it is narrated by such a character. Being the die-hard romantic fan, it suits me. 🙂

Started with a reading list of Agatha Christie’s. Usually I tend to cover as many books as possible by an author I liked. Now it is the time for the queen of crime.

So that’s about it and I will keep them coming. 🙂

Until later 🙂

2 new things

I have come up with a Spillover page where I spill out my inane thoughts that race in my mind. Nothing that I can say in particular! Anyway, it will more of micro-blogging, if I may say. 🙂

Would you be nice enough to check it out and leave your thoughts? 😛

Also, I have started writing at Darlings of Venus which is one awesome blog sculpted by a bunch of awesome writers. I joined it in the serious hope that I could write as well as those bloggers, one day.

Well, off to sleep. Will be back with a decent post.

Until later 🙂

My first tag

For so long,I have wanted to do this tag-writing. So, I just picked up this tag from a fellow-blogger. I am tagging anyone who wants to take it up.

*********************************************************************************************************************

1. What is your current obsession?

My blog. I just open the web page and look at it, even though I don’t have a clue to write about anything.

2. What are you wearing today?

Casuals- A light orange t-shirt and tracks.

3. What’s for dinner?

Should ask the hostel cook. Oh! How I wish I could stay independently and eat as I wish. But I know the situations are not conducive at present.

4. What’s the last thing you bought?

The orange t-shirt I am wearing now.

5. What are you listening to right now?

The fan’s whirring sound in my room and the voice of the Prakash Raj in the movie Gilli.

6. What do you think about the person who tagged you?

No one tagged me. For so long, I have wanted to try the tag writing. So I just took this tag from the blogosphere of a fellow blogger.

7. If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?

Bangalore, of course.

8. What are your must-have pieces for summer?

Anything that feels light and that does not irritate me in the scorching heat.

9. If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?

Trichy. Would give anything to taste Mom’s Dosa and Drumstick Sambhar.

10. Which language do you want to learn?

Hindi. Actually It’s re-learning. Ever Since Telugu caught up, I neglected Hindi.

11. What’s your favourite quote?

It varies often. Right now, it is “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”

12. Who do you want to meet right now?

Guruprasad aka Aditya.

13. What is your favourite colour?

Black. Also,Purple. Well ok, if it definitely has to be one colour, Purple wins the game.

14. What is your favourite piece of clothing in your own closet?

The blue jean that Ramya bought me and the black & white Kurti which we both have.

15. What is your dream job?

A stable, stress-free job in Bangalore that will enable me to be financially independent and spend more time with family. Of course, that’s the dream job of every woman.

16. What’s your favourite magazine?

Tinkle Digest. Yes, even after 20 more years, that will be my favourite.

17. If you had $100 now, what would you spend it on?

Shopping for Dresses. On second thought, I will give it to my Bro. Because I have bought too many dresses in the recent past. I want to get out of the obsession.

18. What do you consider a fashion faux pas?

Low-waist jeans and many more.

19. Who are your style icons?

None. Fashion is not my cup of tea.

20. Describe your personal style.

I just go out as what I am. No cosmetics. Seriously. I tried to use eye-liners, lip gloss etc but invariably ended up feeling too lazy to get ready with all that. So, I reverted back to being myself.

21. What are you going to do after this?

Probably will watch TV and have lunch.

22. What are your favourite movies?

The list is too long and varying. To quote the recent, Deivathirumagal.

24. What are three cosmetic/makeup/perfume products that you can’t live without?

As I said earlier, nothing. My laziness does not encourage me to use all these and hence I don’t.

23. What inspires you?

A breezy drizzle, A chat with some of my loved ones, A refreshing book.

24. Give us three styling tips that always work for you.

Too many questions on styling. For the nth time, I just make myself look-able and go out. While at home, I don’t even bother that much. If any more questions related to style or fashion come up, I am going to boycott them.

25. What do you do when you “have nothing to wear” (even though your closet’s packed)?

Just pick a dress that I have not worn for the longest time and go with it.

26. Coffee or tea?

Depends. As I do not drink both on a regular basis, I just take whichever comes first to my mind.

27. What do you do when you are feeling low or terribly depressed?

I cry and then try to sleep.

28. What is the meaning of your name?

It is something in music (Sorry, I am not an expert in this area. But when I googled it, I got this- “A simpler form of musical composition. Words are given more importance than the musical content”). But that is true if my name is Keerthana. My name is Keirthana. My dad had this numerology thing to make my name spelled like that and also made me the sole person with 2 initials among my folks. Never mind. I am happy that my name spells unique.

29. Which other blogs do you love visiting?

All the blogs in my blogroll.

30. Favorite Dessert/Sweet?

Home made Gulab Jamun.Mind it. Home made. The shop ones are too sweet and have sugar deposits.

31. Favourite food?

Anything that Mom cooks is heavenly.

A new attempt

I recently discovered that there a concept called Vignette in literature. My curiosity was aroused because the tool I am working with at office is also called Vignette. So I thought, “Well, it doesn’t hurt to give this a try” and here it is. I am not sure if it is good or even if I have written a Vignette. But, well, this is my blog and where else can I post my feeble attempts at writing 🙂 😛

Real Beauty

She hurriedly stepped inside her Mercedes and nudged her husband to get the car going. The rain had started splattering on the window harshly. The rain had already made her saree wet and she felt that her carefully done make-up had been smudged. Irritated at the rain, she took her compact from her handbag. She was suddenly flooded with the thoughts of her past, for no reason. It was a hard time then, without even being able to afford 3 meals a day.But back then, she was that innocent girl who thought that humanity existed in every human. She had thought that in this world, help would be given to those who asked for it. She learned that she was wrong and that she learned it the hard way. She no longer believed that helping others is a concept in this inhumane world. She had been taught by her experiences that much.

She was shaken out of her reverie by the knocking on her car window. A little girl was begging for money. The car had stopped at the signal. The water drops had stopped. The constant knocking on her window irritated her. She had stopped helping, the day she realised that the world is full of nothing but just cold-hearted robots. After a few more knocks, the little girl gave up and went to a man on the two-wheeler nearby, who dropped off a ten rupee note on the tiny palm of the girl. The girls little brown eyes turned wide at the sight of ten rupees. She watched the little girl run to the tiny shed beside the bus stand and call out to all her friends. All of them started shouting with joy and headed towards the tea shop. They got some brown buns that were hardly enough for all of them. Yet there they were, munching on the buns happily, taking turns in having a bite, feeding each other. Something stirred inside her. She looked down at the unopened compact in her hand. She put it inside, stepped out of her car and headed towards the little ones at the tea shop. The water drops started falling, again.

6 Reasons why I blog!

First of all, I like reading. Hence, my thoughts are influenced as well as challenged by stuff I read. And, it always feels better to pour out what you think than to struggle inside.

Second, there will be some times when you are so bored, that any of your usual ways to while away the time will seem too-lazy-to do-it, but blogging will not be. The reason being you can even put up a post on why you are bored, what you are bored about and all such crap. If you are witty enough, you can make a good post on any topic.

Third, it is just fun to type. You can call me crazy, but I love to type. If it was still the time for typewriters, I would have started out to make a good typist.

Fourth, since my childhood, I love to have an unrestricted freedom of expressing what I think. I have fought my way long and hard to achieve that, till now. Blogging gives me that freedom and I use it well.

Fifth, I have a liking for presentation aspects. I like the feeling when I think hard to find the exact words that would put forth my racing thoughts. Occasionally I take a break and just blog spontaneously.

Sixth, w.r.t to my Cognizant blog, I get rewarded with Wah points. W.r.t my blog here, I can put all the crap I can which is inappropriate to put in a corporate blog forum and yet can say-“This is my blog and I will put whatever I want” 😛

These reasons are the ones that I picked from the top of my head and in no chronological order of importance.

Until later 🙂
