Ripples of my Reflections

I think, therefore I write

6 Reasons why I blog!

First of all, I like reading. Hence, my thoughts are influenced as well as challenged by stuff I read. And, it always feels better to pour out what you think than to struggle inside.

Second, there will be some times when you are so bored, that any of your usual ways to while away the time will seem too-lazy-to do-it, but blogging will not be. The reason being you can even put up a post on why you are bored, what you are bored about and all such crap. If you are witty enough, you can make a good post on any topic.

Third, it is just fun to type. You can call me crazy, but I love to type. If it was still the time for typewriters, I would have started out to make a good typist.

Fourth, since my childhood, I love to have an unrestricted freedom of expressing what I think. I have fought my way long and hard to achieve that, till now. Blogging gives me that freedom and I use it well.

Fifth, I have a liking for presentation aspects. I like the feeling when I think hard to find the exact words that would put forth my racing thoughts. Occasionally I take a break and just blog spontaneously.

Sixth, w.r.t to my Cognizant blog, I get rewarded with Wah points. W.r.t my blog here, I can put all the crap I can which is inappropriate to put in a corporate blog forum and yet can say-“This is my blog and I will put whatever I want” 😛

These reasons are the ones that I picked from the top of my head and in no chronological order of importance.

The Bangalore Trip and the World Cup Fever!!

As already mentioned in my earlier post, I had a very nicely planned trip to meet up with my parents and bro. The trip was fun and ended up really well than expected. Some good things got settled for our family and I am extremely happy about it. Once officially confirmed, I will let out what it is. Until then, keep guessing.

I got to meet Ramya for 1 evening. That was by far the most wonderful evening I have had in the past few months after joining corporate work. Those 3 hours flew like anything and we couldn’t get enough of it. The walk from Cosmos to Spring Beauty, the bean bag, the balcony (one that looks like the balcony in Jillunu oru kadhal film :P), the gossip, the photos, the damsel and cowboy hats, the walk to tea talk to find it empty :(, then the stop for tender coconut, the stop at Mc’D for iced tea and French fries, the comments on couples and babies there – All of these just made us relive the evenings of our college life. The persons and the actions were the same, though the places and perspectives were different. Once again, she taught me to live every second of life as if it was the last. Thanks, you pig!!

Coming to the second part of my post, I was very thrilled that India had made it to the finals and was not able to sleep properly on April 1st night (Adding to it was that I spent that night on train) I was a bit gunned down by the fact that I have to watch the match at my relatives’ house which will mean I can’t yell each time our team scored and swear each time the opponents got a wicket. I was not happy with the fact that I have to sit like a doll and watch a match that India played for something more than life. Anyway, having consoled myself that at least I get to watch the match, I switched on the TV. The toss drama was too much for me and my BP started rising even before the match started. Everything later on, from the point of the opponent winning the toss to their score of 274 was a night mare to me though it was good that we got a few early wickets. Then came worse ones as the openers of our team stumbled, I thought this is the worst match for India, after all the hype it got after performing well in the knock out matches. Then came our players with true spirit and made me regret for not believing in the team. A fantastic innings by the Indian team that made the match of their lives and more than that they made the night of a whole country. I do not wish to point at anyone in our team saying he did well or he did worse. Everyone on the team chipped in and that’s what it counts-team work. World cup 2011 was a hard-earned and a well-deserved award. That night was a night on which even the common man felt that he/she has achieved something great in life.

I want to use the world cup context to emphasize another point. The way the world cup united the people of our country was something that even great leaders of our country have found difficult to achieve. This shows that we can be more united than we seem to be. It is just there in us and I feel that we do not exhibit it more often. To say, for example, Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption motive deserves even more support than the world cup. We can make it if we set our mind to it. There are more to achieve out there. Let us start doing our bit.

Everything in it’s place and a place for everything

After a long break, this space seems to be so warmly welcoming me. It has really been a time of jam-packed schedule and still is. However, this time, I chose to break the pattern and take time off to put up an update here in my online diary.

The days of my life in the recent past:

#Office:

  • Development-oriented training got over which resulted in a role change from Content contributor to developer. The path for this journey involved a lot of pain points and irritations with unreasonable amount of pressure building up. Also, added to it, being a developer at Hyderabad means more delay for being in Bangalore. Nevertheless, I decided to be happy that my career path is on the ascent. Also, given our project and team status, this might be a boon in disguise. So 🙂 🙂 🙂

#Entertainment:

  • Playing Zaz and Neverball in Ubuntu proved to be one hell of an addictive entertainment until a point when I reached the last but one level of the game. I am stuck up there and am not able to complete that level and hence I decided to give the games a break.
  • Playing entanglement In Google chrome has always been pleasant.
  • Then came the cricket world cup and my blood pressure has not been the same since then. I really want the Indian team to win the cup, at least for Sachin, if not for the country. Btw, Harsha Bhogle’s article on Sachin fake Harsha Bhogle article on Sachin (Harsha Bhogle has confirmed he hasn’t written it) after the Indian team lost to South Africa was awesome. Sachin deserves every word of it and even more.

#Food:

  • With Hostel food become worse day by day, milk, curd and buttermilk are helping me out a lot in this scorching heat of Hyderabad.
  • Enjoyed eating Kulfi after a very long time. It reminded me of the good old days at Trichy when my mom would get kulfi for me and my bro and we would be fighting over who finishes first and without letting it melt and drop on the floor.

#Learning:

  • Learning technical stuff is beginning to be an enjoyable one for the first time since after my tenth standard. I know I am a bit slow but I am comfortable and doing it well enough.
  • Also, planning to move from sticking to learning one thing to multitasking in technical stuff too. Not sure how it will work out.

#Friends and Family:

  • Having a plan to meet up with family at Bangalore during Ugadi. Will get to meet Ramya too 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 Btw, talked to her yesterday after such a long time. 1 hour was not enough for all the good stuff and gossip we had for sharing 😛 Planning to catch up during the Bangalore trip.

With a feel of satisfaction of having updated my diary, I am off to start doing some more useful stuff.

Until later 🙂

P.S: Fingers crossed for tomorrow’s match. Good luck Team India and Good luck Sachin! 🙂

P.P.S: The title of the post conveys the state of my current life.

From P with love

Hi IS,

How are you? I know you will not be feeling too good after what happened. I am writing this letter because I want you to get to your senses and also get over what happened. After having been friends-for-life type of a friend with me, what made you get so mad at me that you hit me so hard and crippled me? Did I do anything to hurt you? I do not remember doing any such thing. Even if I had unknowingly erred, you could have come and talked to me to have sorted it out as we usually do with our daily problems.

I suspect that you did not attack me acting on your hatred for me, but due to the provocation by someone new to our circle, X, because I know I did not give you any reason to hate me. What confuses me is, how could you have been so tricked by someone new to our place into attacking me, your friend. I know very well that you are the best defender against cunning people as X. It was you who taught us that we meet both friends and foes in our daily life and not to trust outsiders so easily without making sure that they are indeed friends. After all that you taught us, how could this happen? How did you fail to notice that all she did was to create a rift between us? How did you lose your senses and attack me blindly? See what we have come to. It is me who is crippled physically for life and you who is crippled emotionally because of the guilt of attacking your friend.

I am not saying all this to make you relive all of that and experience agony, over and over again. I am just saying this so that none of us make the same mistake again at any point of our life. Yes, I am not mad at you, for you are and will always be my friend. None of our other friends are mad at you. For, we all know, deep down in your heart, you never meant to attack me. Yes, we know it was not your fault. So cheer up my friend. All we need now is proper cooperation between us and unconditional support from our other friends to recover. Together, let us show the world that we can do much better.

Yours,
P

This is a letter written by the pancreas to the immune system of a person having Type 1 diabetes. Juvenile diabetes aka Type 1 diabetes is caused due to the inability of the body to produce insulin. The exact cause is unknown, but most likely there is a viral or environmental trigger in genetically susceptible people that causes an immune reaction. The body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the insulin-producing pancreatic beta cells, thus destroying them.

The inspiration for this post is Adhi and his diabetes.

My first achievement in coding

Hi all,

Having enjoyed all my days at college and training, without actually learning anything, I decided it is high time that I get into serious learning. I also realized that if I do not do it now, I will never do it. So, with the help of my coding Guru, I did some simple programs, which included a program for the SDES encryption-decryption algorithm(which I have attached below). It took me hours to do it and I consider it as the most remarkable achievement in my coding life. Taking one step at a time, hope I reach the heights some day.
